– April 30, 2007
VisualOn, Inc. today announced a corporate agreement
with High Tech Computer Corp. (TAIEX: 2498; “HTC”)
the world's leading provider of Microsoft® Windows
Mobile®-based smart devices. VisualOn will provide
multimedia software to be integrated with HTC’s
ARM based 3G, 2.5G, and 2G phones and Personal
Navigation Devices (PND).
“We are very excited to be working with HTC.
HTC is the leading developer of Smartphones in
the world today. They have developed many successful
platforms in the market. By working together with
HTC’s innovative R&D team we have been able
to take multimedia on handsets to the next level,
ensuring a rich multimedia experience for consumers
who use HTC devices.” said Yang Cai, CEO of VisualOn.
HTC devices with VisualOn’s multimedia software
will be able to play back full screen video/audio
content at up to 30 frames per second, a performance
standard equal to devices with dedicated multimedia
hardware components. Consumers can now enjoy watching
full length movies or video on demand, and still
have plenty of battery life to make phone calls
or navigate themselves safely to their final destination.
Consumers who have purchased HTC devices with
VisualOn multimedia software will be able to enjoy
audio and video quality on par with Apple’s Video
iPod, including the ability to play back H.264
video with AAC+ audio content at 30 fps.
“Historically, high quality mobile multimedia
was considered impossible without the addition
of costly dedicated hardware. Working closely
with HTC, we have proven it is possible to play
very high quality audio and video on handheld
devices with a software solution”, said Bill Lin,
Vice President of Engineering at VisualOn. “We
decided to work with HTC because they are the
leading company in the Smartphone market. Working
with HTC we have developed a high performance
multimedia solution including, decoding, encoding,
and streaming support.”
VisualOn’s unique patent-pending technology is
targeted for mobile devices and is highly optimized
for performance and power efficiency. VisualOn’s
Media Player supports popular audio and video
formats such as H.264, MPEG4, H.263, WMV, AAC,
MP3, AMR NB/WB and WMA. VisualOn’s multimedia
technology can transform many of today’s handsets
into high-quality portable media players, ideal
for enjoying full action movies, TV shows, music
videos, sports, and news highlights, while on
the go.
