VisualOn and AnexTEK bring “iPod quality” audio and video to portable GPS devices.
Campbell, CA and Hsichih, Taiwan – September 12, 2006
Building upon their existing business relationship and the success of the moboDA family of smartphones, AnexTEK Global Inc. and VisualOn Inc. today announced that the moboDA family of portable GPS devices will also come bundled with VisualOn’s “Media Player Plus” solution. The combined solution will allow moboDA GPS device users to playback “iPod quality” audio and video without a significant reduction in battery life, enabling the highest quality multimedia experience yet available on portable GPS devices. The new moboDA GPS devices are immediately available.
VisualOn’s Media Player Plus software application supports popular video formats such as H.264, MPEG4 , H.263 and WMV and popular audio formats such as AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, AMR and WMA. VisualOn’s multimedia software turns moboDA portable GPS devices into high-quality portable media players, ideal for enjoying full action movies, TV shows, music videos, sports and news highlights on the go.
VisualOn’s unique patent-pending technology is targeted for mobile devices and is highly optimized for performance and power efficiency. It enables the moboDA portable GPS devices to playback full screen video/audio contents at 30 frames per second for over five hours. Apple’s video iPod by comparison has a battery life of about three hours. MoboDA GPS customers can enjoy viewing a full length movie on a long drive with plenty of battery power left to navigate to their final destination.
“It is very exciting to bring a rich multimedia experience to our moboDA GPS customers. Our customers now have the flexibility to watch high quality video on their GPS device when they are not using them for navigation. It’s a great way to entertain the kids on a long trip.” Said Alex Kou, President of AnexTEK. “Our moboDA GPS devices are one of the few GPS devices that can also be used as a high quality Personal Media Player (PMP) much like Apple’s video iPod. It may also be the only GPS device on the market that can support the H.264 video standard, used in advanced multimedia applications such as iPod video file, mobile TV, video streaming and Video on Demand (VOD)”, said Alex Kou, President of AnexTEK.
“This is truly exciting news for us at VisualOn. By working closely with AnexTEK we are extending our technology to support GPS devices. Together we have enabled a rich multimedia experience to be enjoyed by moboDA GPS customers. This provides tremendous added value to AnexTEK’s customers. They now have a high quality video player built into their GPS device that they can use to entertain the family and friends on long drives. Historically, this level of quality was not considered possible without dedicated costly hardware. Working closely with AnexTEK we have proven it is possible to play “iPod quality” video and audio on GPS devices and smartphones with a software based solution”, said Yang Cai, President of VisualOn. "Our job is to work closely with industry leaders such as AnexTEK to bring high-quality, power-efficient multimedia solutions to the mobile community.
