DiBcom and VisualOn demonstrate support of high quality H.264 video software decoding for DVB-H at 3GSM World Congress Hong Kong

Campbell, CA and Palaiseau France, December 5th 2006

—Consumers have become used to a certain level of quality when watching television.  With the rapid adoption of HDTV, the demand for better picture and sound quality continues to build, putting greater pressure on manufactures to deliver a high quality mobile TV solution to handsets.
The joint demonstration will be based on DiBcom hardware with VisualOn’s software solution running on Windows Mobile OS handsets,  a Dell Axim 51v PDA with an Intel Xscale 624mhz CPU and the Mio A701 GPS PDA Phone with an Intel Xscale 520mhz CPU. The two companies have worked together to ensure VisualOn’s DVB-H Mobile TV client software solution works flawlessly with DiBcom’s DIB707X H chipsets for DVB-H, enabling H.264 broadcast content with AAC+ audio to be played back on Windows Mobile handsets at very high quality levels.
“We were happy to see solutions like VisualOn’s fulfilling the high-quality multimedia needs of mobile TV complementing DiBcom’s state-of-the-art DVB-H integrated receivers.” said Stuart Pekowsky, VP of Business Development at DiBcom.
VisualOn’s Mobile TV solution parses the IP stream from the DVB-H receiver, decodes and plays back on-the-fly the audio and video data on the mobile device, while the DVB-H receiver/tuner solution is based on DiBcom DIB707X H product, that integrates a quad-band RF and a proven performance DVB-H baseband offering huge gain over the MBRAI specification thus offering the best reception quality on the field.
“VisualOn is thrilled to work with a leading company like DiBcom to support DVB-H broadcasting, which will provide a high quality end-to-end solution to the market.  DiBcom’s proven performance has enabled us to demonstrate a level of quality that had not yet been successfully brought to market. By working together, we can help drive the adoption of DVB-H by consumers along with the growth of Mobile TV”, said Yang Cai, President of VisualOn.
